Five Ways for the Stay at Home Mom to Make a Difference

>><<

One of the things I loved hearing from the sermon today was that Christians should impact sinners.  Part of the reason why we are here is to help lead people who walk in sin to see God's marvelous light + love. I get discouraged sometimes as a stay at home mom that I can't go out and DO and GO as much as I would like to. But I am a Christian. And I am called to preach the gospel of Christ. As much as I would love missions and reaching people in the alley's and streets, stepping into the darkness to bring the light, I have to think of my kid's safety and needs because that is the responsibility God has given me. The BLESSING He has given me. That shouldn't stop me from reaching the lost though. I just need to be creative with it. If you are in the same wonderful/hard situation, know that there IS something you can do to make a difference. Five things that come to mind:

1. If you are a parent, it's your duty to raise your children to come to know the Lord and walk in His light, obey His commandments.

2. You can PRAY. Anywhere. Anytime. You can let others know you are praying. Send cards, texts, bible verses, words of encouragement, and let them know you are praying for them.

3. You can open up that home you are spending so much time in. Invite people for food, dessert, coffee, games. If you have the time, host a bible study. Justin and I have always loved that idea but sadly have never got around to doing it (Speaking to myself here with all this).

4. Encourage people and share Christ with people with the time you do have. Go visit the elderly. Go to the park with a mom and her kids. Bake cookies and bring it to your neighbor. I want my kids to see a love in us for others. The love of Christ.

5. Justin and I invest in "Gospels of John" from the Pocket Testament League. It's a booklet of just the book of John. We love handing these out. We've gone to our local mall and park to hand these out to people for free of course. It is a good way to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. I have also handed these out to the cashier at Walmart.

I guess you could say this post mainly gears towards the mom who desires to do something, but feels tied down. Being "tied down" is usually used negatively. But really, it's a honor to be at home with my kids. I know not everyone is able to stay home with their kids and I am so thankful I can. Or even if you work and have kids and feel tied down, know it is an honor to have a family and you are doing the right thing by putting your family first. I just want to encourage you by reminding you that there ARE things you can do. Your life is not over when you have kids. Spend time with God and in His word and if you have a willing heart to serve Him, then let God use you to do mighty things to further His kingdom.

This started out as a regular post, but got so long, so off to the blog it went! I hope it encourages someone.
